Evidence-based listening to identify hate and respond responsibly.

In order to address online hate speech, civil society organisations (CSOs), media companies and public institutions need to access real-time information to be able to respond effectively.

Phoenix is an open source, non-commercial platform developed by Build Up and datavaluepeople, designed to enable peacebuilders to conduct ethical and participatory social media listening to better inform their work.

We will use Phoenix in TAOHS to equip CSOs and media companies with the skills and the possibility to track online narratives and hate speech they found in their accounts.

Having this information will allow them to build better interventions to mitigate potential hate speech on their social media presence, and enter in conversation between each other and public institutions to address the issues faced and find collective solutions.
